mission
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to provide quality and affordable dance instruction and education to students ages 2.5 to adult. Our program is designed to build self esteem, discipline, promote aesthetic and body awareness.
We want to encourage an appreciation of the performing arts, as well as teach different genres of dance influenced by various cultures.
OUR HISTORY
In the late 80's, 3 young girls had dreams of having their own dance studio. They came up with the name that included all 3 of them "ShaCarTia". Once the opportunity presented itself, Dance Institute of Philadelphia also known as DIP was born. It evolved from a stellar dance program from Canaan Baptist Church (IOTA) of Germantown. In January of 2008, established it's unique identity and launched the program under the leadership of it's directors Carli Farris, Shante Forrest and Tia Jordan at Hope Charter School and Morton Homes Community Center. We have expanded our program to our location at 5900 Greene St. in Germantown on October 16, 2008. With over 100 students, DIP has entered a new era of dance education, where both the serious and fun-loving student of dance will encounter a well rounded dance education in a family friendly atmosphere.
